BOARD MEMBER MAGGIE BOVE-LAMONICA

Hermosa Beach City School District Board

Service: Peace Corps

Maggie Bove-LaMonica is an elected member and current board president of the Hermosa Beach City School District. Working with communities in Chicago, Los Angeles, New Orleans, San Francisco, France, and Morocco, she has spent her career on increasing equity and access for students and focuses on building a K-16 pipeline for all kids. Her commitment to community building and education was strengthened as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco (RPCV '03) where she led youth development programs in the town of Kasba Tadla. A native of Hermosa and an avid surfer, Maggie resides in Hermosa Beach with her husband, two children and their dog. She has graduate degrees in Education, Public Policy, and the Law and uses those frameworks to work on education equality issues and access to civic engagement. She is running for re-election to the Hermosa Board this Fall, and wants to focus on going further with the District's work on safety and security ensuring that our school facilities building programs is are completed,  programs with mental health, resiliency, and empathy are adopted and incorporated across the District, and that our academic success continues to excel.
