Eboni-Rose Thompson

Eboni-Rose Thompson is a dedicated advocate for educational equity and a Program Officer for Education Grantmaking at Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies. With over a decade of experience supporting education, government, and social impact organizations, Ms. Thompson focuses on strategic engagement, partnerships, and community building. She has worked in various roles, including at DC Public Schools, Save the Children, and America's Promise Alliance, contributing to local and national education initiatives.

Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Ms. Thompson is deeply connected to her community. As an elected representative for Ward 7, serving as the President on the State Board of Education, she tirelessly works to ensure that every child receives a high-quality education that prepares them for success. Having experienced the challenges faced by families in providing opportunities for their children, Ms. Thompson is driven by a personal commitment to educational excellence.

Ms. Thompson’s educational journey includes earning a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completing a certificate in education finance from Georgetown University. Her expertise encompasses education policy, advocacy, community engagement, and communications. She brings her passion for equity and community building to her philanthropic work, investing in initiatives that promote educational equity and advance policies for excellence in public education.

Beyond her professional commitments, Ms. Thompson has actively contributed to her community through various roles. She served as Chair of the Ward 7 Education Council and an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, advocating for fair funding and resources for Ward 7 schools. Her accomplishments include securing funding for "at-risk" resources, modernization projects, and overall increases in the public education budget. Ms. Thompson also played a vital role in preventing school closures and participating in reopening schools during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In her ANC capacity, Ms. Thompson collaborated with colleagues to secure funding for the modernization of the Benning Stoddert Recreation Center and supported the establishment of the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation and Nationals Baseball Academy. She is committed to giving back to her community, co-founding the Ward 7 COVID Response Team, volunteering as a literacy tutor with Higher Achievement, and raising funds for families in need during the holidays.
